We are honoured to announce that Iris Neumann, shareholder and Managing Director of Kambaku Hospitality College, was nominated by NTA as Expert in Hospitality and Tourism for the international BILT ‘Dual Transition Group’. The UNESCO-UNEVOC International Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training is one of 8 UNESCO institutes and centres working in the field of education, and the only organisation working to promote the United Nations’ mandate through TVET. UNESCO-UNEVOC also contributes to the United Nations’ mandate to promote peace, poverty alleviation, and sustainable development (For more information go to: Who We Are (unesco.org)). The Bridging Innovation and Learning in TVET (BILT) project aims to create a global knowledge bridge which supports TVET providers across Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific to address current challenges in TVET systems arising from technological, social, environmental and workplace changes (For more information go to: The BILT Approach (unesco.org)))

Iris is now one of two experts nominated to represent Namibia in the BILT ‘Dual Transition Group’ which will focus on the dual transition to the digital and green economy and society. The BILT project will explore how this dual transition is developing and impacting TVET in hospitality and tourism from 2022-2025 (For more information go to: BILT green digital hospitality tourism (unesco.org)).

Iris is committed to represent the NTA UNEVOC Network with valuable input to the project and to keep the Namibian Flag high.

New Homepage/Website

Whilst the COVID-19 pandemic has set us back a bit in our progress towards our first registration, it has also shown that our online system is more important than ever to ensure uninterrupted learning in a safe environment. Our learners in Namibia were able to continue with their theoretical studies back home whilst schools had to close and tourism was put entirely on hold and slowly starts to return.

We took the time to further improve our learner’s training experience and update our programmes with the newest up to date information of the industry.

But most of all, we completely restructured and relaunched our website.

Congratulations to our Graduates

2020 was not an easy year for training. The tourism industry was completely put on hold for many month and now slowly starts to recover.

Luckily, our learners were able to continue with their theory back home whilst practical training was paused from April until October due to lack of tourists and resulting, no opportunity for non-simulated practical on-the-job training.

Therefore, our learners in Namibia were not able to attend the National Assessment in November 2020. Finally, last month they went into assessment and we can now congratulate Hutchison, Kaarina, Maria, Selma and Tresia to their National Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism Operations Accommodation Services and/or National Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism Operations Food & Beverage Operations.

We are proud that you made it despite the challenges!

Four of them went into National Assessment in November last year. Today we received the results and all four were declared competent in all practical and theoretical assessment tasks by the Namibian Training Authority. Congratulations Ndina, Rosalia, Samuel & Victoria!!!

Completed Pilot Testing and Endorsement of our First Qualification

We completed a little milestone for our college: Our first developed qualification passed the pilot testing and industry stakeholder endorsement.

Our first dual vocation qualification, which has been developed for Namibia in cooperation with Mainporter Vocational Online College of Hospitality has successfully passed the intensive pilot testing with apprentices of the us and our employer establishment Kambaku Lodge & Safaris CC. The testing phase took over a year and revealed great opportunities for improvement which have been implemented.

After, the qualification also went through an industry stakeholder review in Namibia and was endorsed by multiple employers of the industry as well as by the Hospitality Association of Namibia.

Now we are ready to prepare for the biggest step towards our objective to bring dual vocational education of the art of hospitality in all corners southern Africa: The first registration of an online dual vocational qualification in the Namibian Qualification Framework.

Let us introduce the new Kambaku Hospitality College

Kambaku Hospitality College was originally found in 2010 by the owners of Kambaku Lodge & Safaris in Namibia and has provided apprenticeships, based on the dual vocational model of Switzerland, Germany and Austria, with face-to-face classes ever since.

In 2014, the college got accredited by the Namibian Qualifications Authority and registered with the Namibian Training Authority.

Since then Kambaku had the vision to offer dual vocational education in hospitality on international standards for hospitality establishments and learners in the entire southern African region.

In 2017, the owners found new business partners growing up, training, working and conducting training in Germany and Switzerland and with additional international industry experience in other countries and continents who share their vision to bring the dual vocational education of the art of hospitality into all corners of southern Africa.

We knew what is required to bring the art of hospitality into southern Africa, but we needed a partner with the technical know-how to provide our training everywhere, anytime and at an affordable price. So in 2017, we started a cooperation with Mainporter Vocational Online College of Hospitality to develop our first qualification for Namibia.

Now 2 years later, we are proud to officially introduce the new Kambaku Hospitality College which will offer dual vocational hospitality programmes for hospitality establishments and learners in the entire southern African region through e-learning and simultaneous practical on-the-job training.

Currently, we are still in the pilot testing phase of our e-learning system and our first qualification with apprentices in Namibia, but soon you will be able to start training with one of our programmes. Until then, browse around and have a look what we have to offer for you.
