Overview

Start your career in the exciting housekeeping and laundry department.

A career in housekeeping and laundry is often underestimated. But did you know, that in many countries the manager of the housekeeping department has a higher position than the manager of the reception or even the entire front office? You ask yourself why? Because housekeeping is not only about cleaning. Guests come to a hotel to sleep … and who is responsible to make the guests feel comfortable in their rooms and to take care of all the little details which make the guests feel home away from home? Exactly, it is the housekeeping team – the heart of each hotel.

The Art of Hospitality stands for customer care, emotional excellence and exceptional guest service at all times. Even if housekeeping and laundry employees are not in guest contact most of the time, it is their job which enables all other departments to perform at their best.

We prepare you for an international career in this multi-cultural, interesting, challenging and behind the scenes department with extensive practical skills, an eye for all those little details that make the guest feel at home as well as theoretical knowledge.

Besides the training in all housekeeping and laundry operations, you learn all core and related skills required to work in the industry.

After completing this short-programme, you will be able to work in any housekeeping and/or laundry department worldwide in a non-managerial position or develop into a supervisor, trainer or manager with experience and additional training.

Our programme’s practical and international orientation develops you into a highly practically skilled hospitality professional on international standards.

Our tutors have many years of international hospitality expertise in all non-managerial and managerial areas and are eager to pass on their knowledge and skills to you.

ADMISSION

You do not need a specific entry qualification to become part of the Mainporter Community!

What you need to register for this programme:

This dual vocational programme combines practical non-simulated training in the real work environment with theoretical training. Therefore, you need to find an employer establishment that employs you as an apprentice, has a qualified person to train you and is able and willing to train you for minimum 9 months according to our standards. Whilst we do not have specific admission requirements, each employer has its own employment criteria which need to be met to become part of the team.

HOW DOES IT WORK

1.

Find a hospitality establishment which has guest rooms and offers housekeeping and laundry services or apply at one of our registered employer establishments.

For example, if a guesthouse which offers guest rooms with daily housekeeping service and laundry facilities it can become one of our registered employer establishments.

2.

Inform the establishment about our programme and check if they want to hire you as their apprentice and join a Training Partnership Agreement with us. You want to become a hospitality professional, so show them why you are the right candidate for them and why they should work with us to train you!!!

If you choose one of our registered employer establishments, you will go through candidate assessment with others who want to get trained, and the employer establishment will choose the best candidate(s).

3.

We provide the interested employer with the criteria which need to be met to become one of our registered employer establishments. They include quality assurance measures, provision of a qualified person as your trainer, access to a computer for your training, fair labour practices, occupational health & safety requirements, mandatory products and equipment available for training, mandatory facilities and services offered, and other specific requirements that ensure quality training.

4.

Once the employer establishment meets our registration criteria, he/she joins a Training Partnership Agreement with us which means that he/she invests for your training and defines the terms of your apprenticeship employment within our framework. For example, the employer defines your weekly schedule, your vacation days, your mandatory hours of theory per week, your allowance, your share of tuition fees, etc.

5.

You enter a Practical Training Agreement with your employer and a Training Agreement with us. Both agreements are interrelated which means that you need both to be and remain registered for our programme.

6.

After we received the required payment, we provide your employer establishment with your log in data for Mainporter Campus and you are ready to start your learning experience.

TUITION FEE

Charged to the Employer Establishment. Your share of the Tuition Fees depends on your Practical Training Agreement with your employer.

The tuition fees of the programme are dependent on the chosen cost model type in the Training Partnership Agreement between your employer establishment and us.
