Overview

Start your career in the world of food and drinks.

A career in the Food & Beverage department never gets boring. There are always new food trends, newly invented beverages and the large amount of different food and beverage products allow you to learn something new every day.

The Art of Hospitality stands for customer care, emotional excellence and exceptional guest service at all times. Most people do not eat just to still their hunger. They eat to have a meal experience! And each member of the service team is – together with the kitchen team – creating this experience for the guests.

Imagine a restaurant with great kitchen chefs but bad and unskilled service … the guests will not enjoy their meal experience even though they eat great food. A successful restaurant, catering company, or other Food & Beverage facility needs both: A skilled kitchen and a skilled service team.

We prepare you for an international career in this diverse, exciting, challenging and guest-oriented department, that even forms its own field in the hospitality industry – the gastronomy. You learn the theoretical background knowledge and the extensive practical skills which allow you to provide great customer service, to prepare beverages, and to pair and recommend dishes and beverages.

Besides the training in Food & Beverage operations, you learn the basics in kitchen operations and all core and related skills required to work in the industry.

After completing this short-programme, you will be able to work in any food and beverage department or facility worldwide in a non-managerial position or develop into a supervisor, trainer or manager with experience and additional training.

Our programme’s practical and international orientation develops you into a highly practically skilled hospitality professional on international standards.

Our tutors have many years of international hospitality expertise in all non-managerial and managerial areas and are eager to pass on their knowledge and skills to you.

ADMISSION

You do not need a specific entry qualification to become part of the Mainporter Community!

What you need to register for this programme:

This dual vocational programme combines practical non-simulated training in the real work environment with theoretical training. Therefore, you need to find an employer establishment that employs you as an apprentice, has a qualified person to train you and is able and willing to train you for minimum 11 months according to our standards. Whilst we do not have specific admission requirements, each employer has its own employment criteria which need to be met to become part of the team.

HOW DOES IT WORK

1.

Find a hospitality establishment which has a restaurant including a kitchen and offers breakfast, á la carte and bar services or apply at one of our registered employer establishments.

For example, a restaurant which offers breakfast and dinner, but no lunch can become your employer establishment if it offers full table service from welcoming until farewell of the guest and has a range of non-alcoholic beverages, wine, cocktails, and sprits and meets our other requirements. On the other hand, a fast-food restaurant, where the guest orders and/or pays at the counter and which does not provide alcoholic beverages cannot become an employer establishment as you have no chance for your practical training in the full á la carte service cycle.

2.

Inform the establishment about our programme and check if they want to hire you as their apprentice and join a Training Partnership Agreement with us. You want to become a hospitality professional, so show them why you are the right candidate for them and why they should work with us to train you!!!

If you choose one of our registered employer establishments, you will go through candidate assessment with others who want to get trained, and the employer establishment will choose the best candidate(s).

3.

We provide the interested employer with the criteria which need to be met to become one of our registered employer establishments. They include quality assurance measures, provision of a qualified person as your trainer, access to a computer for your training, fair labour practices, occupational health & safety requirements, mandatory products and equipment available for training, mandatory facilities and services offered, and other specific requirements that ensure quality training.

4.

Once the employer establishment meets our registration criteria, he/she joins a Training Partnership Agreement with us which means that he/she invests for your training and defines the terms of your apprenticeship employment within our framework. For example, the employer defines your weekly schedule, your vacation days, your mandatory hours of theory per week, your allowance, your share of tuition fees, etc.

5.

You enter a Practical Training Agreement with your employer and a Training Agreement with us. Both agreements are interrelated which means that you need both to be and remain registered for our programme.

6.

After we received the required payment, we provide your employer establishment with your log in data for Mainporter Campus and you are ready to start your learning experience.

TUITION FEE

Charged to the Employer Establishment. Your share of the Tuition Fees depends on your Practical Training Agreement with your employer.

The tuition fees of the programme are dependent on the chosen cost model type in the Training Partnership Agreement between your employer establishment and us.
